All about Futura Cinema

Futura Cinema is an incubation program developed in partnership with a number of festivals, incubators, hubs and residencies to support innovative projects to promote cinema and develop audiences.

After three editions in France, from 2025 Futura Cinema will launch an incubation path in several European countries, as well as a second support programme focused on experimentation.

Whether you're a professional in cinema, culture, innovation, technology, social economy, transition, design or any other sector, whether you represent a company, an association or an individual, wherever you are in Europe, you can take part in Futura Cinema!

INCUBATION PROGRAMME

📍1 year of incubation with 5 work sessions at partner festivals

Call for projects : submit an idea or an emerging project in line with the program's theme;
Call for co-creators : offer your skills and know-how to join a team and co-develop a project

📍15-month program with 3 events at partner festivals.

Call for projects: mature tools or solutions ready for experimentation;
Call for venues: cinemas, cultural institutions, festivals or distributors willing to test projects and become a testing ground

The cross-sectoral approach

Transferring innovation between cinema and other cultural sectors

> How can cinema and other sectors innovate together, whether in terms of technology, use, social, environmental or cultural innovation?
> How can innovations developed for other cultural sectors or in education, tourism or transport (non-exhaustive list) inspire those involved in film distribution?

Candidate projects and profiles can be in any field, including event management, use of digital tools, content distribution, acculturation and provision of resources. Without exclusivity, Futura Cinema will pay particular attention to applications related to:

cutting-edge technologies, to encourage the cinema industry to be more open to the use of virtual universes or artificial intelligence applied to the needs of the sector
accessibility for spectators with disabilities or handicaps
environmental responsibility and social impact
